Salutations from the Board!

Greetings Atlanta AACN Colleagues,  

I hope this message finds you well and that you are finding comfort and rest among all the stress of this ongoing pandemic. Your efforts will probably never be adequately appreciated, but we see you and we are proud to stand beside you.    

September 1st marked this Chapters 50th Birthday and we thank you all for the Atlanta Area Chapter being among the largest and most active Chapters in the United States. The most recent resurgence in Covid19 appeared at a time when the Atlanta AACN Board was in the process of transitioning back to in-person monthly educational meetings. Unfortunately, due to the resurgence and variants, the decision was made to continue with virtual educational offerings. This decision was made to help keep you safe and doing the very important work you do in your respective hospitals.  We will be posting some new online educational events soon, which will continue to be the first Wednesday of each month at 18:00. 

We are looking for new board members!  This is a 2 year commitment – one year of working with the active person in the role and then working with the next elect while you take over the role.  We are also open to two  people taking a role as a bundle, and you and your partner would go through the elect year and active year together.  The current positions we are looking for volunteers are:  Treasurer, Secretary, Education, Membership, Community, Social Media, Special Projects/Region 6 Liaison.  If you have any questions about these roles you can contact me and I will get you in contact with the correct person  (gillian.getty@emoryhealthcare.org).  We try our best to make sure that no work load is too heavy and that there is help when needed.  We would like to have the names of individuals/groups willing to take on roles turned in by November 3rd so we can send out the ballots for voting.

Board meetings are open to all members.  If you are interested in sitting in on a meeting we will be posting the Zoom link on the Nursing Network website.  Meetings are the 1st Wednesday of each month – 5pm to 6pm just prior to the educational event.  You do not need to let us know ahead of time that you are interested in showing up – just log in!
